Description
Introducing the ONWA KS-200A+ Class B AIS Transponder. A powerful marine navigation and vessel tracking solution designed to enhance safety, situational awareness, and communication on the water. Utilizing advanced SOTDMA (Self-Organized Time Division Multiple Access) technology-the same system used by Class A AIS transponders-the KS-200A+ provides guaranteed time slot allocation for more reliable vessel transmissions. This advanced capability ensures that your vessel's AIS data is consistently broadcast and received, even in areas with high marine traffic density. Equipped with a high-performance 5W transmitter, the KS-200A+ delivers significantly greater transmission range and improved AIS satellite reception compared to standard Class B transponders. Depending on antenna installation and operating conditions, the unit can typically be detected at distances of up to 10 to 12 nautical miles. The increased transmission power also enhances global vessel tracking capabilities through AIS satellite networks and supports an increased transmission rate that automatically adjusts based on vessel speed, ensuring more frequent position updates when underway.
The transponder continuously transmits your vessel's AIS information while simultaneously receiving AIS data from surrounding vessels. Featuring one AIS transmitter and two dedicated AIS receivers operating on AIS Channel 1 (161.975 MHz) and AIS Channel 2 (162.025 MHz), the KS-200A+ provides comprehensive coverage of nearby maritime traffic. This enables captains and crew to monitor vessel movements, improve collision avoidance awareness, and make more informed navigational decisions in both coastal and offshore environments. Designed for seamless integration into modern marine electronics systems, the KS-200A+ includes full NMEA 2000 compatibility, allowing AIS information to be shared effortlessly with compatible chartplotters, multifunction displays, and onboard navigation networks. It also features a bi-directional RS232 interface operating at 38,400 baud, supporting communication with a wide range of marine devices. AIS targets and vessel information can be displayed directly on compatible NMEA chartplotters, providing a clear visual representation of surrounding marine traffic.
The built-in Wi-Fi capability adds another level of convenience and flexibility. Users can configure the transponder through a web-based interface using hotspot mode or by connecting the unit to an existing wireless network. Vessel information such as MMSI number, vessel name, call sign, and other AIS parameters can be easily programmed and updated through the web interface or via the RS232 programming connection. The default hotspot configuration provides straightforward access for setup and maintenance without requiring additional hardware. To further enhance usability, the KS-200A+ incorporates a dual-colour LED pilot light that provides clear visual confirmation of GPS status and system operation. The integrated GPS receiver complies with IEC 61108-1 standards and delivers reliable positioning data for AIS transmissions. With support for common NMEA sentences including VDM, VDO, RMC, GSV, GGA, and GSA, the transponder integrates smoothly into existing navigation systems while ensuring accurate and consistent data exchange.
Built to withstand demanding marine environments, the KS-200A+ complies with IEC 60945 environmental standards and operates reliably in temperatures ranging from -25C to +60C. Measuring approximately 200 mm x 138.7 mm x 45.8 mm and weighing only 0.45 kg, it offers a compact installation footprint suitable for a wide variety of vessels. The unit features a PL259 female VHF antenna connector, SMA female GPS antenna connector, and NMEA 2000 interface, ensuring broad compatibility with marine electronics and antenna systems. Compliant with major international maritime standards including IEC 62287-2, IEC 60945, IEC 61108-1, IEC 61162-1, IEC 61993-2, and ITU-R M.1371 specifications, the ONWA KS-200A+ delivers dependable AIS performance for recreational boaters, commercial operators, and professional mariners alike. By combining Class A-style SOTDMA technology, powerful 5W transmissions, integrated Wi-Fi, NMEA 2000 networking, and robust environmental protection, the KS-200A+ provides a comprehensive AIS solution for safer and more informed navigation.
