Description

The Root'd C003 Bird's Eye Chilli - 20 Seeds produces chillies between 3cm and 7cm long. Bird's Eye Chilli, also known as Thai Chilli or Thai Pepper, is a small but fiery hot pepper that originates from Southeast Asia. Named for its resemblance to bird's eyes, these tiny chilies pack a powerful punch of heat. With a Scoville heat rating ranging from 50,000 to 100,000, they are significantly hotter than jalapenos.

Bird's Eye Chilli peppers come in various colours, including red, green, yellow, and even purple, adding a vibrant touch to any dish. Despite their intense heat, they also possess a subtle fruity and slightly floral flavour  that complements spicy cuisines exceptionally well. Bird's Eye Chilli peppers are commonly used in Thai, Vietnamese, and other Southeast Asian dishes, lending their intense heat and distinctive flavour to curries, stir-fries, sauces, and marinades. A little goes a long way with these potent chilies, making them a favourite among spice enthusiasts seeking an extra kick in their culinary adventures.

Growing Notes: There are various ways to germinate seeds. You can use the moist paper towel method, germinate in trays indoors or sow directly in pots. However, it is a good idea to start seeds indoors in small pots or germination trays. Keep the medium moist during germination and if you can maintain a warm consistent temperature it will be beneficial. You can soak seeds for about 2 hours to soften the seeds. It is common to soak seeds in a weak Hydrogen peroxide or weak chamomile tea solution. Do not sow seeds too deep. Be patient as some hotter varieties can take weeks to germinate. After seeds sprout and a few leaves have formed, you can start to transplant and move outdoors when temperatures become warmer. Peppers love rich soil, so adding compost to the garden or potting mix is highly recommended.
