Description

The Root'd C005 (Bhut Jolokia) Ghost Pepper - 5 Seeds, Red produces chillies between 6cm and 8cm long. The Ghost Pepper, also known as Bhut Jolokia, is an exceptionally hot chili pepper that originates from Northeast India. Renowned for its intense heat, it gained the title of the world's hottest chili pepper in 2007, according to the Guinness World Records. The Ghost Pepper is a small, wrinkled chili that typically ripens to a vibrant red colour, adding a visually striking element to dishes. With a Scoville heat rating that can exceed 1 million units, this pepper delivers an incredibly fiery experience.

Despite its searing heat, the Ghost Pepper possesses a unique fruity and smoky flavour profile, which adds complexity to any dish it graces. Due to its extreme spiciness, it is usually used sparingly, adding heat and depth to sauces, marinades, spicy snacks, and even hot sauces. The Ghost Pepper stands as a true challenge for spice enthusiasts seeking the ultimate heat sensation and an unforgettable culinary adventure.

Growing Notes: There are various ways to germinate seeds. You can use the moist paper towel method, germinate in trays indoors or sow directly in pots. However, it is a good idea to start seeds indoors in small pots or germination trays. Keep the medium moist during germination and if you can maintain a warm consistent temperature it will be beneficial. You can soak seeds for about 2 hours to soften the seeds. It is common to soak seeds in a weak Hydrogen peroxide or weak chamomile tea solution. Do not sow seeds too deep. Be patient as some hotter varieties can take weeks to germinate. After seeds sprout and a few leaves have formed, you can start to transplant and move outdoors when temperatures become warmer. Peppers love rich soil, so adding compost to the garden or potting mix is highly recommended.
