Description

The Root'd C006 Habanero Pepper - 10 Seeds produces chillies between 2cm and 5cm long. The Habanero Pepper is a small, lantern-shaped chili pepper that originates from the Caribbean, particularly the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. It is well-known for its fiery heat and vibrant flavours. With a Scoville heat rating ranging from 100,000 to 350,000, the Habanero is significantly hotter than jalapenos, making it one of the hottest peppers in the world.

The peppers come in various colours, including orange, red, yellow, and even chocolate brown, adding a visually appealing element to dishes. Beyond its intense spiciness, the Habanero offers a distinctive fruity and slightly floral flavour with hints of citrus and tropical undertones. This unique combination of heat and flavour makes it a popular ingredient in salsas, hot sauces, marinades, and spicy dishes. Despite its intimidating heat, the Habanero pepper brings a depth of flavour that can enhance a wide range of cuisines, especially those seeking a balance between intense heat and bold taste.

Growing Notes: There are various ways to germinate seeds. You can use the moist paper towel method, germinate in trays indoors or sow directly in pots. However, it is a good idea to start seeds indoors in small pots or germination trays. Keep the medium moist during germination and if you can maintain a warm consistent temperature it will be beneficial. You can soak seeds for about 2 hours to soften the seeds. It is common to soak seeds in a weak Hydrogen peroxide or weak chamomile tea solution. Do not sow seeds too deep. Be patient as some hotter varieties can take weeks to germinate. After seeds sprout and a few leaves have formed, you can start to transplant and move outdoors when temperatures become warmer. Peppers love rich soil, so adding compost to the garden or potting mix is highly recommended.
